WiFiClientSecure problem

I am trying to use the WifiClientSecure library.
I am uploading the HTTPSRequest example into my wemos D1 mini and I can't connect.
the connect method returns 0 and I am getting the message 'please start sntp first !' in the debug output.
Any ideas??
