Also, is it possible to do anything in places where you don't have the WiFi password - in other words, is it pretty much useless outside of your house? Thanks!

- Thu Jul 23, 2015 9:02 am #24014 Well ESP can act as a WiFi access point, so you can always create your own closed network if you want.

And yes, it can scan for other networks.

For instance, if I left my ESP8266 device somewhere outside, is it possible for it to send me a message using a neighborhood WiFi connection, or is it gone forever?
