Perhaps you can verify I've blown the code into the right locations - looks right to me... but nothing - not seeing anything on serial, not seeing any new access points appearing in my network....http://scargill.wordpress.com/2014/12/23/esp8266-mesh-network/

i tried that binaries and i think its not working now. i saw something on the serial and two esp's connecting each other but i can't see any other devices on the network.

You can use CWLAP for regular scan. The "neighbors list" will indicate only the nodes are in mesh. It means, it will lists only the APs having SSIS in the series of "MESH-?????".

Forget the data communication part. First see, either you are "automatically connected with any remote AP" or not. Best result will be for three devices.
