new internet service, cannot access ESP hosted webpages

I cannot access webpages served by ESP8266s since getting a new internet service provider and router. They connect to WIFI, however for instance on Chrome I get this error "This site can’t be reached esp8266-webupdate.local’s server IP address could not be found." This is when running the WebUpdater.ino example sketch which ran fine with the previous internet equipment.

The router webpage shows the devices are connected. Can anyone help me fix this?

Check your router settings for mDNS. Maybe it is blocked. I think WebUpdater.ino needs it to work.

Thanks. I searched but didn't find anything about mDNS anywhere in the router webpages. Is there a related terminology that I need to address?

I am able to go to the IP address of the ESP8266, however, mDNS doesn't seem to be working. In the router settings I found the security option: "Block Multicast" but it was already unchecked.

As I said before, I was able to use ESP8266 with the previous router. Now I have the Arris TG1682G router with Xfinity. Technical support for Xfinity was unable to help me. Is there anyone that knows about this or what I should do? I can't use ESP8266 because of this problem.
