The router is providing it’s own DHCP. But even if I supply a static IP outside the DHCP range the only communication I can make to it is via UDP Broadcast. There is no complication of a separate DHCP, this is an almost stock new cable modem/router. The only thing I changed after the installer left was to change the wifi passwords and add a single NAT passthrough so I can ssh into the server here.
