Any benefits to going with an ESP32 over an ESP8266(Wemos)

Planning out a larger LED install in the kitchen and just want to make sure I've got the data, is there any benefit to going with an ESP32 over an ESP8266 besides just the extra GPIO pins? Maybe I can hook up more than one led strip to an ESP32?
