#33405 Yeah it's a tricky thing, a little scary actually, but also quite clever.

The title should say 'without wifi connection'.
You don't need a connection to see SSID's and MAC addresses.
And if you have a database of the GPS coordinates of access points with their MAC and SSID, then you know the general location.

eg. When an iPhone has location services turned on, it logs it's GPS location when it detects SSIDs nearby, thus knowing where those access point are.
Thats how a Macbook know's it's own location without a GPS.
Ofcourse you would need a locally stored copy of the database for lookup if there was no internet connection.

NSA will be exploiting the sh*t out of this for sure.
