I too am having problems with new SDK, it simply wouldn't compile. This is what I get when I try compiling their IoT_demo:
I always get this "make: Nothing to be done for `FORCE'." message.
Anyone got any ideas?

spi mode: QIO
STEP 5: choose spi size(0=256KB, 1=512KB, 2=1024KB, 3=2048KB, 4=4096KB)
enter (0/1/2/3/4, default 1):
spi size: 512 KB
start...
make: Nothing to be done for `FORCE'.
