I guess you do not have an IDE configured for ESP8266, do you?
You basically need an Arduino IDE and then add some libraries. Have a look here or here. But remember those are the instructions to upload an sketch directly to your ESP, not to use the ESP from your Arduino.

As I said before, my sketch is supposed to be uploaded to an ESP; if you want something that runs on the Arduino, I cannot help you.
