#77286 According to a previous post that is the pressure and temp only version.

Do not take this the wrong way but you have been given advice here and your best bet is to take it up with the supplier as has already been suggested.

I also ordered a BME280, but I got a BMP280 since it has a hole in the corner (as you described)

Now I've ordered (again) a BME280 at a different supplier.
It looks the same as the one I bought the first time. Except the position of the tiny hole in the sensor. And.......now it works ok. :)
The (fake ?) BME has chip id 88. The working chip id is 96.
