Hi, I have bought Nodemcu development board. But it didn't have any USB cable with it. What type of USB cable is required? Can I use USB cable which are used to connect smartphone to laptop?Will the current and voltage requirements be satisfied?

Yes you can.
Out of interest some mini cables for connecting Arduino products are just a power cables.
You need a micro and I assume if it is specified for a phone it should transmit data as well.
