#93349 All of a sudden Arduino IDE (v1.6.12) is reporting:

Error downloading http://arduino.esp8266.com/stable/packa ... index.json
and there are no ESP8266 boards available to choose in the drop-down menu.

Until now, it has been working fine for months.

Anyone else see this?

Appreciate any advise.

Hi flisterfive,

also from me the question:

Which Zip file? name? where to find?

Can you please describe in more detail what you did to make preferences work with WPS8266.

Is there some reason why are you using such an old version of the IDE? Current is 1.8.19! I understand sometimes you can't upgrade due to a library or such. There are a lot of significant changes to the way things work and it wouldn't surprise me if some new stuff is expecting a newer version of the IDE.

PLUS - It would be simple enough to test with a parallel install and see if your problem goes away. - https://docs.arduino.cc/software/ide-v1/tutorials/PortableIDE
