because you found one (faulty) instruction on the internet you thik you found truth?
did you search for similar topic in the board search?
Using Uno for ESP is the worst idea apart from directly connecting it to RS232 port on PC.
At least use an 1k resistor in the connection to esp rx and remove the µC on the uno if you are not willing to invest the few bucks for a proper usb-serial converter
